Lincoln "L" Technical Questions

Description of the new Lincoln Model L
Author Last Post
I have been trying to work out the original color of our car, in the 70s my father-in-law painted the car yellow to match his 1971 Lincoln Continental, and before that it was a very dark purple. The records from the Ford Motor Museum has color code of "LB" from the factory.

I found a description of the new Lincoln Model L just before it was going to be released to the public in the Michigan Manufacturer and Financial Record, in that it says all the car was going to be offered in Lincoln Blue. Which I guess is what LB stands for. When the car was painted yellow the cowl lights were not removed, I have had to remove one so I can rewire it, this has exposed two earlier paints with their undercoats. I am going to get them looked at by a paint expert that I work with to see if she can work out the colors.

Our car was a deluxe touring commissioned and sold by the last distributor listed Puritan Motors Corporation, Boston Mass.

The building that they built still stands and is used as a school today. If you google 1001 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, Mass in google street view you can see it.
