I'm starting my first restoration on my "new" '39 K (404B).
The engine:
Three spark plugs were frozen in the heads #2 #4 #10, penetrating oil and two weeks of tapping with a small hammer and they finally came out without pulling the threads out of the heads. I poured Marvel oil into each cylinder, let it sit, and turned the engine over by hand once a day while I rebuilt the carb. Installed the carb and cranked the engine over with the starter and had compression and spark at each cylinder. Filled the radiator and cranked the engine over some more. Then I found the head is cracked and leaking on the outside around #2 and #4 cylinders. I don't know if the head is leaking on the inside into the cylinder. Looked thru the spark plug hole with a scope and didn't see any sign of rust or pitting.
Anyone one have advice about what the next step should be while I start looking for another set of heads?
Should I go ahead and start her and let run for awhile then pull the plugs and check for water or start her with 2 and 4 plugs out and see if water sprays out?
The Interior:
The headliner and door panels are missing. Does anyone have pictures or info on what these looked like and how to install a new headliner? The door panels I are easy enough but I have never done a headliner.
The body and paint are in good condition, only a few small scratches. Not bad for 85 years old.
