1928 Model L sport touring (I think!) Questions
Author Last Post

I have a 1924 7 Passenger touring, very similar to your car. Mine has original upholstery

if I can be of help let me know. John

Alexander, you have acquired a Type 167 Locke bodied, 7 passenger Sport Touring. There were close to 500 of this model made between 1927 and 1929. There are at least 2 others in the LOC but I suspect there are more maybe not identified as Type 164. To find them log onto the website, select the Member Autos tab and enter your search information.

This model is very similar to the Type 163-A, which was a 5 passenger Sport Phaeton by Locke. The rear cabin was shorter on those but this model could also be used for your reference. I have one of these under restoration but there are a number of them in the club. I suggest that you find one close to you so you can look at it from time to time while you complete the re-assembly.

This looks like a nice car and certainly will be a fun car for the family to enjoy in the years to come.

Bill, Pres. LOC

Cool! Congratulations! Looks like it will be a great car. I had a 7P Sport Touring several years ago. Keep us posted on your progress and needs.

Hi everyone! I'm a new owner of a 1928 Sport touring (or so I've been told). Body tag is gone, so it's hard to tell for sure. Also, the engine is from a 1929, and doesn't match the title that I have, and there is no cowl tag for it. Needless to say, a small pickle. I have a blank vin tag that I'll put on it with the number from the title, but it's not going to match the engine. No problem, as its not destined for pebble Beach, it'll be a family driver and a fun tour car for us. I need to find someone that has a complete car that I can bribe to take about a million detail photos of, so that I can finish the assembly of my car. It was about 80% complete, and has a TON of loose parts with it. I'm pretty good at identifying stuff, but it's all been mixed together and not labeled.

I know it's not an original color, but I bought it this way and I think the paint looks good, especially for a driver. Engine appears to be rebuilt well, but receipts have been lost. Body is put together nicely, but interior and top need to be done, and the majority of the nickel trim, finishing touches, and dash need to be installed. It's a huge undertaking, I know, but I'm young (35) and excited! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Call me if you would want to talk lincolns, I'd love to pick someone's brain! 303-514-6587

Attached are a few photos of what it looks like now.
