Lincoln "L" Technical Questions

1930 voltage regulator
James Miller

My 1930 Dual Cowl (body by Lincoln) has a Delco voltage regulator, that may not be working, correctly . I am trying to post to pictures. My question is I cannot read The terminal labels so I would like someone to be able to identify what the labels are on the four terminals. Also the Wiring diagram I have does not show a voltage regulator so Any information on how to hook this up? I may be able to get by with just the labels but I’ll take whatever help I can get.

thanks,

Jim Miller

What you are looking at is not a Voltage Regulator, it is a dual circuit breaker. You will find no fuses in the Lincoln \, unless some circuitry was added by a previous owner. Lincoln "L" did not have a voltage regulator. If motor-generator is not charging the battery properly, look into generator brushes, also make sure the field energizing wire is properly connected to the ignition switch, and all intervening connections are clean and tight. This is a unique system, shared by Cadillacs of the same years.

You need to order a service manual and set of 1924-1930 service manuals from LOC.

Thank you Allan. Very helpful. I have ordered the service manual from Perry Rogers but delivery takes awhile.
