Help locating serial number (VIN)
Author Last Post

Thank you both for the helpful suggestions. Found the body number plate on the firewall, but that number didn't match the title.

So proceeded to the crankcase. With a bright light I found it as described right away. And that was the number on the title! Would have looked for hours without knowing exactly where it was.

Thank you for the help, I will take a look.

The VIN number for the car is the Body number, which should be on a plate on the firewall.

The engine number should be on the front left (driver's side) engine crankcase stamped on a flat space.

Brand new member here. I'm helping prepare a car for sale that belonged to my late brother-in-law. The car is a 1923 Model 129. The car has been titled in CA and CO with a 5-digit number as the VIN. I'm looking to find this number somewhere on the car. I suspect it might be the motor number - but I don't know where on the engine to start looking. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
