Locke body tag?
Author Last Post

Thank you for sending that not along. I guess there was not tag for Locke, and I will stick with that answer next show/concourse. May take it to Hilton Head, we shall see.

My Locke 163 had not been previously restored but did not have a Locke tag anywhere on it.

I’m trying to recall if any of the Locke bodied model L cars I have seen have a Locke tag. I may be wrong but I don’t think they do.

The under seat tag will give you the body type and the body types are all known and the builder of all body types is (pretty much) known. So if you look at your body type you will know who built it. Brunn, Judkins, LeBaron, Dietrich have body tags on the cowl bottom. Often on only one side. Locke..... I guess I just can’t remember seeing one.

I am obviously missing these tags. Do you have pics of the tags from your roadster or does anyone have pics of Locke tags on the car?

I cannot find a tag under the seat. Do you or does anyone have a picture of what this tag looked like?

I took it to mean the tag on each side of the lower cowl, behind where the side mount spares would be. I’m pretty sure my 28 Locke Sport Touring had them. My 29 Brunn does.

I think you should have metal plate under the front passenger seat.

I brought the Lincoln to the Kiawah Island show (won!!), but was asked where the Locke body tag would be to document/certify this is indeed a Locke body touring. That stopped me as I never thought of this before, other than getting the original build sheet. Does anybody know or have seen such a tag for the 29 Lincoln, for Locke? I think other builders did indeed have one.
