Lincoln "L" Technical Questions

1929 L dual downdraft carbs
Jim Raymond

I am considering buying a '29 L that has a dual carb downdraft setup. I am pretty sure it is not and original Lincoln setup. Photos attached. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about this carb setup. What make are they? Approximately when would they have been made?

If these carbs are removed, can a Model L downdraft carb be installed without modification to the manifold?

How easily obtainable is an original Model L downdraft carb and manifold in case that is what is necessary?

jim,

the pictures dont seem to have made it.

Model L uses a stromberg O-3 updraft carb. It would be pretty hard to install it without an original manifold.

Also,

the parts are not that hard to get.

I think you have to be logged in to view them.

Looks like there is no Manifold, just a separate adapter for each carb to fit where the original manifold was. Maybe a small crossover tube. The water circuit is external to the manifold here, is internal in the original. This arrangement may work quite well, actually, might be a couple of Chevy or Dodge 6 cylinder carbs..Try it as an interesting experiment

Did you ever get the car ?

Did you buy car ?

I purchased this car. It has been at the Lincoln Homecoming the past two years.

It has two Ford six cyl carbs on it.
