Lincoln "L" Technical Questions

29 Lincoln water pump/generator yolk disks
Francis Spinale
Working on 29 Lincoln that has a couple of issues. Water pump was leaking badly, when I pulled this noticed that front yolk disks at accessory shaft fractured. This likely would cause wobble on the pump shaft - was this a common problem- does anybody have any of these or were they reproduced?

Leland Powels has them

I  believe Greg Bilpuch has these discs, made of stainless steel. He also has the special shoulder bolts that fasten the discs to the shaft yokes. (not yolks[as in eggs] - auto complete function got it wrong) They flex slightly in operation, if the water pump and timing chain ends are not exactly in line, and they eventually crack due to metal fatigue. The original discs are nickel plated spring steel.

Make sure carb rebuilder replaces pot metal internal venturi - they are invariably cracked and distorted, making them non-functional. Tony Henkels in CA used to make these, as well as liquid filled gas gauge body castings in bronze. Someone must have the patterns and production info for these, since Tony passed away a few years ago.

All great advice. Indeed have found the stainless non egg yokes. Good heads up on the carb, the current one runs very rich and cannot lean out any more; very likely some cracks and broken pieces. I am going to pull and examine carb this weekend.

Wonderfully built car.
