Lincoln "L" Technical Questions

starter generator and water pump
Author Last Post
Hey LOC, my first post. George Corse in Baton Rouge, 1929 Lincoln Sport Phaeton, Lincoln built.

Quarantine can be a productive time to work on cars. I had a problem with the starter not turning, pulled water pump and sent to Gould in Mass. Took starter to local expert, name is Dod, in Walker La. He's been in the "field" for many years picking up work from local shops, starters and generators.I carried in the unit and he felt he could make it well. I asked if he would call me when it was apart, which he did. I took photos and have them on my phone, will attempt to load them here sometime. He tested the unit and seemed just dirty and greasy inside, probably why I had a problem. After cleaning I picked it up and installed in the housing, it's heavy. Jack and 4x4 great. I cleaned all my connections, battery, starter post, ground. Pushed on starter pedal and it turned the motor! Great! Water pump should be ready this week. My first wrenching of the Lincoln. I have two other cars, 1930 Model A and a 1940 Ford Deluxe, both cars are drivers with extensive work by myself and others nearby. I have to say a thanks to Michael Riley in Texas for his advice on the starter generator. Joe Rodgers, long time friend of my Dad's, great guy for questions on Lincoln. Next project is putting in new ignition wires. Who would be the best source for wire and connectors to the distributor and plugs?
