About this event


The LOC will be hosting the joint LOC/LZOC Spring 2026 Meet in the Tidewater area of Virginia. The “Chesapeake Inn”, in historic Urbanna will be the home base for the weekend. Trailer parking is available on Robert’s property (131 Virginia St) at the end of Virginia St. along Oyster Rd.

MEET ITINERARY 

May 7 -  Thursday

          -  Arrive in Urbanna, check-in at The Chesapeake Inn, 250 Virginia St.

          -  6:00 PM Welcome reception at 131 Virginia St. A short walk from the hotel

 

May 8 -  Friday

  AM  -  breakfast on your own at local eateries

         -   gas up your car in preparation for a 90 mile loop tour 

         -   8:30 tour departs

         -   9:45 tour of Sabine Hall

         -   11:00 drive to the Mount Airy Plantation and then to Menokin   

         -   12:30 a catered lunch will be provided at our Ditchely Mansion tour stop

    

  PM  -  drive to Christ Church, a very early well preserved colonial church 

         -  3:00 stop at Tides Inn for a drink or stay here longer for dinner 

         -  return to Urbanna        

         -  Dinner on your own at any of the local Restaurants in Urbanna 

 

May 9 -  Saturday

          -  breakfast on your own at any local restaurant 

          -  top up your gas for an 80 mile tour today

          -  8:30 heading South East, view colonial home ‘Wilton’ 

          -  9:15 arrive at Toddsbury and visit Newstead, to see home and a car collection   

          -  10:45 on to Nuttles general store to pick up our boxed lunch

          -   12:30 proceed through Gloucester, eventually arriving at Rosewell for lunch 

 

   PM  -   2:00 drive to Machicomoco State Park 

          -   2:30 view an early Native American encampment and scenic York River views

          -   3:30 return to Urbanna

          -   5:30 all cars assemble at Sandwich (131 Virginia St.) for group photos

          -    6:00 dinner at Sandwich

 

June 8  Sunday

         -  breakfast on your own again 

         -  Goodbyes and return home

- Sabine Hall

family and view it from the outside.
 - to Menokin

Declaration of Independence and his wife Rebecca Talyoe of Mount Airy. It is a ruin that is
undergoing an unusual renovation.
  - Ditchely, another Lee associate home, formerly owned by Jessie Ball Dupont, a relative of Mary Ball Washington, mother of George
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ditchley (Kilmarnock, Virginia).  tour the mansion, guided by one of the present owners, Cathy Calhoun.
-  visit Christ Church Lancaster, one of the best preserved colonial churches in America

DAY 3 May 9th tour info
We will go from Urbanna toward the Gloucester
- to Nuttles 19th century General Store (http://www.nuttallstore.com/) where
we will pick up box lunches.
-  passing the restored home of Dr Walter Reed (.

- visit Rosewell ruin (http://www.rosewell.org/) and enjoy our box lunches.
- to Machicomoco State Park
(https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/machicomoco) and Timberneck Farm, site of
some of the earliest Native American encampments

Day 4 We say goodbye after breakfast and head home, knowing a lot more about historic Virginia
